BETT Award 2016 - Finalist

Teach Code. With Confidence. #edtech

We are so excited to be a Bett Award 2016 finalist. The Bett Awards honour the most effective and pioneering technology companies and solutions that support education. Codio has been nominated in the "ICT Tools for Learning, Teaching and Assessments" web-based classroom category.

Codio in the classroom

Crunch-Little Man Computer on Steroids

For Students - We believe students 'learn by doing'. We developed 59 course units mapped to the UK National Computing curriculum. Students can also create code projects in Codio's online code editor. Theory and practical elements are covered offering 100% coverage of the UK Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (ages 11-16) curriculum.

For Teachers - Codio provides a hassle-free solution for teachers. We've partnered with leading UK exam board Oxford, Cambridge and RSA (OCR) to co-develop auto-marked assessments. Students get real-time feedback as they progress through the course units. As students progress, the dashboard lets teachers track progress and demonstrate impact. Teachers can also use the platform for their own professional development.

Codio in Universities

Codio has started attracting the interest of US and European Universities. And it is easy to understand why.

For Faculty Members - Codio solves the challenges involved in teaching computer science to large classes. With Codio you can:

  • track students’ progress on code projects
  • create a consistent development environment for student project work; using any number of pre-configured software stacks
  • manage a stable, sandboxed environment to manage version control and software configuration
  • enjoy unlimited project workspace - each with an Ubuntu server with full terminal access and a domain name for each assignment

We need to do more

Even as we celebrate our nomination, we are aware of the acute skills gap in the technology sector. Recently, @BBCMIDigital announced the prediction of 1 million new technology jobs by 2020. That is only 4 short years away.

The learn-to-code movement is about creating the next generation of problem solvers. We are supporting entrepreneurship and ingenuity. And the education sector is our first line to help train the next generation. Thus, we remain dedicated to helping teachers, lecturers and faculty members teach computing, with confidence.
